He has supervised the training of final year medical students and registrars in Anaesthetics and Pain Medicine. His mentorship has enabled his post-graduate registrars to gain their Pain Medicine subspecialty qualifications both in Australia and internationally. He was the founding Director of Multidisciplinary Pain Medicine at Nepean Tertiary Hospital, Penrith. He has been a past examiner of the Fellowship of Interventional Pain Practitioners.
Associate Professor Sundaraj has been an invited speaker and chairperson for a number of meetings. These include the Australian Pain Society and the International Association for the Study of Pain. He has been invited as a speaker for peak bodies including WorkCover NSW, the Medical Law Society of NSW and General Practitioner education. He has been invited as an international instructor in cadaveric workshops for spinal cord stimulator and advanced nerve block therapies for post-fellowship specialists.
For the last 15 years he has volunteered his time to mentor medical specialists in India, Malaysia, Singapore and Thailand. Here he has advised other doctors on management of more complex pain patients.
